Julie Chen Moonves, who was among the first hosts and moderators for The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award winner talk show), returned to host The Talk on August 5th for its 22nd episode. She was a writer prior to becoming a host, but her love of writing was for the written word. It actually earned the show an Emmy. Additionally, she was awarded one Emmy award for outstanding host of a talk program. The show was hosted by her co-hosts CBS News weekday morning show The Early Show between 2002 until 2010. Her previous roles included anchoring the CBS Morning News and The Early Show. She was sent to Cairo following the 9/11 attacks and gave an intimate and fascinating interview with the father of the principal hijacker. Chen Moonves interviewed celebrities such as Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. Also, she spoke to the former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani and Queen Rania. Chen Moonves covered the Emmy Award-winning CBS Sunday Morning News show. The show featured celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis or Paula Abdul. Prior to The Early Show he was the CBS own station journalist for New York City, WCBS. In her final year of University, she served as an assistant at ABC News in Los Angeles (1990-1991) and served as the director of ABC NewsOne (the network's affiliated news service). She began her career as an assistant for ABC News, working on the late-night show Nightline with Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel is still one of Moonves' journalism idols. Chen Moonves, who won Columbia du-Pont for the primetime Anatomy of a Riot special in 1992, which focused on the Los Angeles riots, worked in conjunction with Koppel.
